... if that's lazy, then I must be a horrible sloth because I could make A's if I really wanted to. I had the chance to being in National Honors, to make more than 1's on my AP exams. But I never studied and I never paid attention and I never tried for anything.

Hell, even in band, I only rehearsed audition material like... ONE HOUR before the audition. I still do that now in university too...

...well my parents breathe down my neck when I do do work...so maybe that is part of the reason...?


....and at least you practice, I look at the music and just run through the fingerings really quick then when I do audition, I play the etude like THREE TIMES SLOWER than what it should be

That could be it. My parents never cared about my grades as long as I passed. I used to make straight A's and when I made my first B in the 4th grade, I thought my parents would hate me. But they were just... indifferent. Just went, "... hon, it's a B. It's still a passing grade." Which... probably destroyed me academically but |D

Though my mom was not near as happy when I got a D in history once thanks to me failing to do papers and such because papers are tedious and boring and |D

Ahaha, with the etudes, it's better slow and steady than starting and stopping and sounding horrible. So that's actually the right way to go about it. And I'd do the same really, except I'm horrible at reading rhythms. So I have to look over it or it'd just sound... like notes. Random notes.

My parents get uptight when I get less than A's because they and I both know that I can do better, I was just lazy, etc.

It is, though what saves me a lot is my chromatic scale since that is the only scale I practiced like a madman. I'm pretty good at counting rhythms, just horrible at reading them as well.

I'm now 6 out of 372 and my GPA is 4.3770 out of 5.0
