you're the one I want
so my parents told me that when I go to college in a couple months, they'll buy me a new laptop. Now just comes the matter of choosing what kind to get :| I am more familiar with PCs, but I don't like them. Macs are shiny, but there is the problem of compatibility when it comes to turning assignments in and other stuff :| SO CLEARLY THIS CALLS FOR A POLL

Advice, Comments, and whatnot are loved!

I would vote PC if I was on dreamwidth. Don't feel like paying for an account there since I already bought a permanent account here. ^^;;

actually there's more of like a 50:50 ratio of people who use macs at uni, and I don't find compatibility to be an issue at all. at least, at UT all computer labs cater to both systems and it just depends on what you like better.

Buy a mac. More importantly, buy a mac during their back to school sale and buy Microsoft Office for Macs when it's half off. It's still 150 dollars, but that completely waives any and all compatibility issues unless your college is using old as fuck computers.

Macs are far more user friendly, and unless you plan on seriously gaming on your mac, far outweigh any pros the PCs could hope to give.

/does not have a dreamwidth, cannot fill out the poll otherwise

I support both Macs and PC... I'm not all that familiar with the wonders of a Mac laptop vs a PC laptop seeing that I've only had one PC laptop. :/ But desktop wise it just depends on what your needs are really. Macs are generally considered the "big thing" that college kids buy because of the great service that you can get and that you can do practically everything that a PC can do on a mac. Though uh, if you've noticed, I bought a dell/PC.

For the main point of this: mac = good but expensive. PC = questionable but cheap. HOWEVER mac = is not customizable. PC = v. customizable. & when I say "customizable" I mean parts wise. With a mac you really can't interchange and upgrade the parts of a mac. My dell PC runs and is just as powerful as an iMac but at half the cost, reason? Customizing. Granted, if you don't know what specs you need more than others, then you're a bit boned because there's only so much that googling can do.

jskasd fdg do whatever pleases you man. I'm not saying you to pick which one over the other, but I'm just providing you information on both sides...
